Motley Crue - Glasgow 14.6.05 gig review

What a performance, the Crue are back and you'd better believe it! After waiting so long since they last toured, this was worth every penny and the wait.

Opening with Shout At The Devil, the Crue blasted their way through a blistering set including songs such as Live Wire, On With The Show, Home Sweet Home, Kickstart My Heart, Same Ol Situation, Don't Go Away Mad, Wild Side, Girls, Girls, Girls, Dr Feelgood, Looks That Kill, Primal Scream, Ten Seconds To Love and finished up with an encore of Helter Skelter and Anarchy In The UK.

Performing for over 2 hours, the stage show, lighting, pyrotechnics and sound were superb even though the pyros blew the monitors on one side of the stage on two ocassions. What more could you ask for - midgets on unicycles, girls on stilts, firebreathers, high wire acts all completely enthralling.

Having already seen a tape from their American leg of the tour, I was slightly disappointed that Tommy did not do his flying drum solo from one side of the stage to the other, perhaps the arena was too small however he more than made up for it with the 'tittie cam' encouraging the girls in the audience to show their wares and the Scottish girls duly obliged in full view on the big screens. Highly entertaining and typical Tommy.

Nikki also did a pyro solo at a keyboard where he was covered in hot sparks and flames, exploding in the end. Vince's voice was first class and he can still tear up those vocal chords and hit the highest notes. Mick, well he looks to be struggling with arthritis but was first class, just cranking up the solos and performing note perfect.

For those of you yet to go, believe me you have a truly amazing experience to look forward to, this is an old style rock n' roll show like you just don't see anymore and if the Crue are true to their word, then I'll be back the next time they tour.

Was it worth the 32 notes (and the rest) though??? Still seems rather an excessive fee to see them!

Yeah it was worth it Andy but it was only ?27, okay that's still a lot but you may never get to see them again, you know how some bands make promises that they never intend to keep and this could be a nice little earner for Motley to sit back on for a while.

28 guid isnt a lot to see a rocknroll spectacular good value for money i say plus we got the cicus thrown in for that cost...although touts outside were selling the tickets for ?5 ...... u2 were playing the same night in manchester for ?60 and bono goes on about poverty.

When you consider the Motley show - accomodation, crew, transport, pyros, support, etc, seems like a good deal eh Johnny. Excellent show all round.

Bono is a hypocrite, ?50 for U2 tickets, who the fuck are you kiddin?. Love some of their music but who are you ripping off Bono and how much of that will ever see African shores?

Geldof is a wanker. Irresponsible twat that he is, he has already forced many businesses to close for for 5 days over here, public transport is fucked, and I am guessing that if no-one gets killed, its will be a miracle.

There are other ways to make a point about wiping out world debt (which I am in favour of) without causing mass disruption to an economy.

I was at the Manchester gig myself - the support wasnt too great but Motley more than made up for it. I was down the front row and took plenty of photos so when I get em uploaded I'll link to em if you all like.
Amazing show, seriously one of the best I'v been to in terms of the stage-show itself - strippers, dancers, flame-eaters, midgets, tittycam and Nikki's amazing synth/bass solo covered in flames, sparks and dry ice with a gyrating, belt sanding dominatrix...
Excuse me, I need a few minutes....
